The Market Management and Staff have developed the following Code of Conduct to ensure your visit, and that of your fellow guests, is a pleasant one. We strive to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for everyone.
This Code of Conduct is in effect at all times while visiting the San Pedro Square Market
The Market Code of Conduct
DO Be respectful of others with your PERSON and use of language
Don’t physically or verbally threaten any person; the following is not allowed: fighting, annoying others through noisy, boisterous, or offensive behavior, following another person through The Market or using sexually explicit language or conduct, or in any way creating a disturbance which is disruptive or dangerous to The Market's patrons or its commercial function. Including (but not limited to) use of physical force, obscene language, obscene gestures or racial, religious or ethnic slurs which are likely to create a disturbance or impinge on the hearing or peace of other patrons.
DO Bring your friends and family to The Market
Don’t have possession of any item that could be used as a weapon, including but not limited to: firearms, explosives, fireworks, clubs or sticks over 1 inch in diameter (except umbrellas or canes), chemical dispensing devices, knives with blades over 2 inches in length, or any other object(s) that may be used in any way to inflict bodily injury on another person. Also do not bring items inside the buildings that are not allowed: bicycles, motorized vehicles (exceptions, as provided by law) and animals (with the exception of service animals).
DO Feel free to put tables and chairs together for larger groups
Don’t bring the inside furniture outside or put tables and chairs on the Adobe area or hinder or interfere with the flow of other market goers by obstructing entryways or walkways. This includes tables being moved into walkways, fire exits, entryways etc.
DO Wear appropriate attire.
Don’t wear questionable clothing that may affect our guests’ dining experiences. We ask that attire be appropriate and within the guidelines as set by Department of Environmental Health. Shirts and shoes are required as per the Department of Environmental Health. Therefore, we do not allow bathing suits unless covered up by other clothing. Additional Dress Requirements Include:
No wearing or displaying of clothing, tattoo’s, bandanas, or clothing accessories with gang insignias or identifications, including a specific combination of colors or symbols commonly associated with gangs, as those terms are defined by the California Department of Justice
No excessively baggy clothing
No clothing or jewelry featuring profane language, symbols or images
No OPEN CARRY of firearms, knives, or other items that could be used as a weapon permitted except by sworn law enforcement
Vests, jackets, shirts, hats, jewelry, patches, or other clothing accessories or items of clothing are strictly prohibited to the extent
they contain any logo, insignia, moniker or writing associated with any motorcycle, car, or bicycle club
DO Celebrate your birthday and all of your special events at The Market
Don’t engage in expressive activity not sponsored by The Market and/or an enterprise(s) engaged in business at The Market, without complying with The Market's rules for such activity. This includes, without limitation, the solicitation of money or other contributions or donations, or distribution of commercial advertising or promotional material of any kind, or offering samples of items which are sold, available for sale or available in exchange for a donation or contribution.
DO Have fun and The Market and socialize with your friends
Don’t yell, scream, sing, play musical instruments, radios, tape players, or other sound amplification devices or otherwise communicating in a manner which creates noise of sufficient volume to impinge on the hearing or peace of the general public. Also don’t deface, damage or destroy any real or personal property constituting part of, or located in or on, The Market, including writing, spraying, scratching, or otherwise affixing graffiti on such property.
DO Take advantage of our ample seating and variety of seating options
Don’t sit on floors, handrails, tables, trash receptacles or other areas not specifically designed for seating.
DO Purchase food and alcohol from your favorite vendors inside The Market
Don’t possess any alcoholic beverage or food that was not purchased from The Market.
DO Follow all federal, state and local laws and ordinances
Don’t smoke, closer than 30 feet from the patio’s or entrance.
DO Expect to be asked to leave if your behavior does not fall within this Code of Conduct.
