December 3, 2011
History, Heritage, and Holiday fun will all be taking place here at the San Pedro Square Market on December 3
rd
from 11am-4pm. We have a variety of events for everyone to enjoy.
Santa Claus, Mr. Saint Nick himself, will be taking time off from his incredibly busy schedule and visiting us here at the Market. He will be arriving in style, on a vintage fire truck! This will be a great time to give Santa a heads up on what might be on your wish list, or take photos for holiday memories. He will only be here from 2pm-4pm, don’t miss him!
Whether you’re having lunch from one of your great restaurants or a midday libation from the Market Bar, you can sit back in our beautiful outdoor Plaza and enjoy music all afternoon. Get into the holiday mood with the Lyric Theater’s costumed carolers from 11:30am-12:30pm. Up next, from 12:30pm-2:00pm, Fiddle Road brings a colorful blend of Celtic, bluegrass, Cajun and Ol’ Timey songs expressed joyfully through guitar, fiddle, mandolin, 5 string and tenor banjos, stand up bass and ukulele. The dedicated students of Liberty Baptist School's band and choir have put in a lot of effort in keeping the passion for music alive and they want to spread that love on to you! Don’t miss them as they showcase all their hard work from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
In addition to the wide-ranging musical program, local author
Jim Hummel
will be on hand to sign his latest children’s book,
San Jose, California: The Place Where People Help Dreams Come True.
Hummel is a cartoonist who has worked for the
San Jose Mercury-News
and taught illustration at San Jose State University.
For all you crafty DIY enthusiasts, there we be a live demonstration from the
Serendipity Spinners Guild
and the
Lace Museum
will be holding a lace making demonstration from 11am-4pm.
Across the street, History San Jose is keeping up with tradition in hosting San Jose’s annual Heritage Holiday Tea and Tour. It will be held at the Victorian-era Fallon House.
Satori Tea Company has made a special blend of peach, plum, apricot, black tea and flower petals. Named ‘Valley of Hearts’ Delight,’ and also be available for purchase. Guglielmo Wines will provide champagne that will be served by Shady Shakespeare, a new addition to the tradition.
Spaces at the tea can be reserved here:
