More recently, he has been performing regularly with The Mark Arroyo Trio, including at a performance in the spring of 2012 opening for Blue Note recording artist Robert Glasper, and with Oscar Pangilinan's group, The Bad Four. Along the way, Sutton has been fortunate enough to study privately with such gifted teachers as Wally Schnalle, Jason Lewis, and Ed Soph. In addition, he has been an active contributor to the South Bay jazz community as a volunteer for the San Jose Jazz Society, as well as a faculty member at their 2010 and 2011 summer jazz camps, where he taught an introductory drumset course and lead student combos.
