Sutton Marley: Wednesday, September 26th @ 6:00pm
Raised in San Jose, California, Sutton Marley first became exposed to jazz music in high school and has been playing professionally around the San Francisco Bay Area ever since. In 2009, he attended the prestigious University of North Texas with a scholarship in Jazz Studies. Since relocating back to the Bay Area in 2010 to pursue an English degree at the University of California Davis, he has shared the stage with some of the South Bay’s best jazz musicians including John Worley, Oscar Pangilinan, Murray Low, Rick Vandivier, John Shifflett, Modesto Briseno, Aaron Lington, Brian Ho, and Greg Chen. More recently, he has been performing regularly with The Mark Arroyo Trio, including at a performance in the spring of 2012 opening for Blue Note recording artist Robert Glasper, and with Oscar Pangilinan's group, The Bad Four. Along the way, Sutton has been fortunate enough to study privately with such gifted teachers as Wally Schnalle, Jason Lewis, and Ed Soph. In addition, he has been an active contributor to the South Bay jazz community as a volunteer for the San Jose Jazz Society, as well as a faculty member at their 2010 and 2011 summer jazz camps, where he taught an introductory drumset course and lead student combos. Sutton continues to perform in the Bay Area frequently as a sideman as well as leading his own trio.
Lisa Lindsley: Thursday, September 27th @ 6:00pm
She has been called a glass of champagne, cool, refreshing, and a little bubbly.
Lisa Lindsley may be a latecomer to singing jazz, but the wealth of creative experience she brings to American Songbook gems turns familiar tunes into bracingly contemporary tales. She made an impressive debut with Everytime We Say Goodbye; her 2016 release, Long After Midnight, charted for three weeks on the U.S. FMQB Top 40, and remained in the Top 5 slot for 7 weeks on the CMJ Jazz charts. And now Wouldn't It Be Loverly sits at #27 on the FMQB charts!
Bob Gonzales Blues: Friday, September 28th @ 7:00pm (Market Plaza Stage)
"Rock, roll, rhythm, and blues is what we started with in the early 60’s......we listened to and played it all. Music was not so focused as it is today. People danced and enjoyed it; musicians experimented. Call it what you like, it’s me and my friends doing what we do......”
Do you like the Blues? Do you like old school R&B? Do you like real Rock? You will love the Bob Gonzalez Band!
Funtouchables: Friday, September 28th @ 9:00pm (Garage Bar)
Math Class Band: Saturday, September 29th @ 7:00pm (Market Plaza Stage)
The band Math Class is an act that strives to bring back the big show aspect that has been lacking within the working band circuit for years. With the drive and excitement of new and retro rock tunes that have been amped up to create a smiling audience, Math Class is a band that will start and accentuate any party.
Dolce Musica: Saturday, September 29th @ 9:00pm (Garage Bar)
Dolce Musica is a trio that performs a great variety of material with joy and passion. From seminal artists like Dylan to "old school" R&B and original material, the song selection pleases audiences wherever we play. The trio combines the expert guitar styling of Don Bill and smooth flugelhorn and bass accompaniment of Chris Vasquez. We feature Ren Geisick on vocals. Ren is a rising star who is a 2015 Jazz Search West winner, which culminated in an award winning performance at Yoshi's, Oakland. Ren also is releasing her first solo Album, produced by Grammy award winner, Jesse Harris, (Don't Know Why) in 2017! Our sets suit the tastes of many and we're lucky, because we chose the tunes we love to play!
PS Acoustic: Sunday, September 30th @ 2:00pm
