Michel Bénébig discovered his passion for music at an early age when he began playing the Bass Guitar, Accordion, and Organ at age 11. After studying classic piano at the Territorial School of Music Noumea he moved to France and studied for two years at the Conservatoire de Musique de Besançon, rediscovering his passion for the Hammond B3 Organ. His affinity for improvisation pushed his styles across blues and jazz realms.
In 1994, Bénébig began to play regularly on the local scene and began touring around the world, meeting jazz organists Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Mc Griff, Larry Goldings, and many other players. He has toured throughout the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Vanuatu, and Ile De La Reunion, and has performed at the Manawatu-JAZZ FESTIVAL, and other notable venues worldwide. In May 2006, Bénébig was elected: The 'Organist of the Month' by The International Archives for the Jazz Organ.
