San Pedro Square Market Live Music: Join SPSM for a live performance with Lillie Lemon on Saturday October 4th, 2014 @ 8:00pm in the market plaza.

Lillie Lemon and her band are an indie electro-pop quartet based in Monterey, California. Their instrumentation utilizes primarily synthesizers, with a hybrid drum kit and Explosions in the Sky inspired electric guitar. Songs are fueled by building crescendos and a unique hybrid of acoustic and electric sounds.

Lillie Lemon hails from the great Midwest, the land of long winters and short summers. She began her musical life on the shores of Lake Michigan in the dead of winter. Her songwriting is heavily influenced by the flux of the seasons, often substantial in lyrical content and dense in sound.

Settling in Monterey, Lillie attached herself to the local music scene. Producer and musician Erica Wobbles is known for his electronic influences and wide variety of keys-related instrumentation. Partnering with Erica has led their music down a path both experimental and wildly gratifying.

Guitarist Michael Glines' talent as a musician was cultivated during his time spent in Korea, where his experiences provided content for his passionate songwriting and skillful guitar playing. His playing is highlighted by unique tones and unusual chord progressions that add an intriguing flavor to tracks.

Drummer Dylan Stokes is a prodigious musician, songwriter, and artist with a broad portfolio of creative works. On Lillie Lemon's forthcoming album, Dylan can be heard on vocals, drums, guitar, and bass.

San Pedro Square Market Live Music: Join SPSM for a live performance with The Honey Wilders on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 @ 8:00pm in the Market Plaza.

"Knock-out 70s-style boogie rock" -Guitar Player Magazine

The Honey Wilders' brand of boogie is undeniably 70s-flavored, recalling the era of big hooks and big guitars before all the big hair. Their refreshing sonic cocktail is something like one part Exile on Main Street and Damn the Torpedoes, with a splash of In Color, served up Live and Dangerous. Strongly recommended for rockers and power-poppers who like to get down and get with it.

New at the Market - the SPSM Truck
Our 1956 flatbed Chevy truck has been restored and is parked on the Sidewalk Cafe under our iconic San Pedro Square Market neon sign. The previous owner of this truck carted strawberries along the roads of Salinas. The truck is a reminder of San Jose's agricultural heritage in the Valley of Heart's Delight. We love that the truck is now running, and we look forward to using it in local parades and as a stage for small music groups. In the meantime, please admire the rustic flavor of the truck.

Our 3-Year Lighting Anniversary
Three years ago on September 9, 2011, we held a Sign Lighting Party for the San Pedro Square Market sign with fanfare and Sam Liccardo flipping the switch of a replica giant light switch. At that time, only the San Pedro Square Market Bar and Pizza Bocca Lupo were open for business. The whole Market has come so far since then and we are looking forward to much more to come.

LAST CHANCE to donate to the Stanford Blood Drive - September 12th

Geared for young children, move, dance and sing with your child to a variety of music in English and Spanish. Play with bean bags, scarves and rhythm sticks.

We restrict access to parts of the Plaza until field trips are finished, generally at noon. Please work with us to ensure the children’s safety by paying attention to signs and barricades. Market managers are present in the Plaza to answer any questions you may have about the program and its impact on the operations of the Market and its vendors.

Live Music: Cado & Friends | Sat Sept 6th @ 8pm

479852 580433638634973 105789895 n resized 600

San Pedro Square Market Live Music:  Join SPSM for a live performance with Cado & Friends on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 @ 8:00pm in the Market Plaza.

Cado brings Brazil with him wherever he plays. His passion for music crosses many genres and styles. Whether or not you understand the language of his songs, it is clear that he is a poet telling beautifully sculpted stories. Cado's voice is a juxtaposition of melodious balance and a rawness that convinces the listener he sings with conviction. His music might be hard to categorize solely because of his wide range of influences. Cado sings in three languages-- Portuguese, Spanish, and English. From rock, samba jazz, pop, soul, alternative to bossa nova, his music transcends barriers. His stage name comes from his sister, who couldn’t pronounce Ricado, and called him Cado. As a teenager, he embraced acts like Nirvana, Silverchair, etc. He moved from Brazil to Portugal at a young age, then him and his mom landed in San Jose, CA in 1992. Although he grew up listening to Brazilian music, he didn’t try to play it until he was 19. As an artist, he's been fortunate to meet some his core influences at local shows including Seu Jorge, Jamie Collum..... both equally excited about his enthusiasm and musicianship. At 21 he decided to give up electric guitar and steel strings and focus on acoustic with nylon strings. Although I've never been a musician in terms of performance and formal training, I've been around music enough to love and appreciate it, and know that I carry it in my soul. When I meet people who do too, I smile. Even now, I get chills from a lot of Cado's songs. He has a way of breaking down the complexities of life in a way that is heartfelt and relatable.
